Uso do travessão

1. Para introduzir a fala de cada interlocutor no discurso direto.

Exemplos:

— Não, mas não entendo nada desse mapa.
— Esquece, vou tentar seguir as indicações das placas.

2. Para intercalar o discurso direto e o discurso indireto.

Duplo travessão

O duplo travessão é usado no aposto, para isolar conteúdo da frase que tenha o objetivo de explicar, bem como, conteúdo para o qual se quer dar destaque.

Além de vir separado pelo duplo travessão, o aposto pode ser isolado por vírgulas ou parênteses.

Exemplos:

Eles — que se achavam muito espertos — foram enganados mais uma vez.

O juiz — confiante com a sua decisão — declarou o réu culpado.

Diferença entre travessão e hífen

O travessão e o hífen são sinais diferentes. Enquanto o primeiro é um sinal de pontuação, o hífen é um sinal gráfico.
